A book is an agreement an author makes with a reader.
You are promising the reader a transformation—a solution, an outcome—and they are paying you to deliver. They want to open the treasure chest of knowledge, and you have the key.
If that seems like a weighty responsibility, that’s because it is.
But here’s the secret: No one does it alone, and you shouldn’t either.

I specialize in making complex and abstract ideas easy to understand. Together we will build your book – your argument, structure, table of contents, and ultimately your manuscript – into the clear, captivating, persuasive book you want to write.
Nonfiction Editorial Services
Quick Start Book Plan
We will work to make your argument, articulate the point of your book, define your target reader, and outline reader transformation. This is an opportunity for you to do a little deep work on your own, receive written feedback, and meet with me to discuss. Think of this as a pre-pre-pre-proposal! A bite-sized way to test your idea, at an accessible price point.
Proposal Evaluation and Editing
Do you have a proposal that you think is ready to go to market? Book proposals are a marketing tool for your book concept, and a surprisingly specific and challenging piece to create. Sharpening your concept and the problem your book solves for the reader is harder than you think. I can give direction on your draft, coach you to create a proposal, or ghostwrite one for you. Let’s talk about how I can help.
Developmental Editing
A developmental edit (also called a substantive or content edit) is a deep, big-picture edit focused on the structure, organization, and effectiveness of a manuscript’s content and ideas. My role here is to ensure that the foundation of the work is solid and to strengthen the core of the work so that later editing focuses on refining rather than rebuilding. When I do this work for authors publishing with a traditional publisher, revisions from the publishing house are typically a light and easy lift. It’s a great way to ensure your publishing journey is easy and straightforward, and as part of this service, I deliver an editorial letter with suggestions for adding depth and clarity, as well as a plan for revisions.
Ghostwriting
I work on ghostwriting projects in a range of nonfiction genres, including self-improvement, business and leadership, and other areas of prescriptive nonfiction. My clients range from authors with a book deal in traditional publishing to those who want to hybrid or self-publish their own work. I work closely with my authors to understand their goals, develop and shape their concept and arc, interview for content, write the full manuscript, and revise.
Manuscript Evaluation
In my evaluations, I give your manuscript a thorough read-through, just like an agent would. I’ll share in the celebration of what’s working(!), as well as recommendations for revisions of structure, content, and voice. At the end of the process, I will deliver an editorial letter of my professional observations that includes a detailed plan for moving forward, as well as an optional phone or video chat for any questions you might have or items you want to discuss.
Book Coaching
What is book coaching, anyway?
Because my business is bespoke, I tailor our work to what works best for you.
Here are some examples:
A current client came to me with a full manuscript. She wanted to pitch one particular traditional publisher, so I ghostwrote a proposal for her. We worked closely to develop her hook and the gap in the market her book addresses. We sold it to the publisher of her dreams and then brought in the agent (who introduced us!) to represent her.
Next, I worked with her every step of the way to revise her initial draft to align with the proposal. Her manuscript has just cleared a developmental edit with the publisher, and is heading to the copy edit stage. Pub date, May 2026!

Another recent client came to me with an idea, but no long-form content. He has a newsletter, many keynotes, Podcast appearances, and LinkedIn posts, but wanted support refining the concept for his project and moving the ball down the field in the drafting process. His work style is to bat around ideas in an interview structure, so I teed up our conversation topics and then we would have an animated live work session to collaborate, challenge, and refine. I also ghostwrote his proposal, and we sold it to a traditional publisher. His pub date is February, 2026, and we just reviewed the proofs!

All of the coaching I do is high-touch, one-on-one service. The work we do is customized to your specific needs.
Books have a purpose for you and a purpose for your reader.
I can help you deliver on both.
For you, writing a book can:

-
build your brand and business,
-
satisfy a long-held desire to make an impact,
-
create a lasting legacy,
-
and introduce your brilliant idea to the world.
For your reader, your book can:

-
inspire,
-
ignite,
-
and transform them from the inside out.
Where I fit in:
I help you translate the idea from your head onto the page in a way that is clear and compelling, so that readers can make the transformation your idea imagines.
The Type of Client Who Has the Most Success

-
You are engaged, committed, and willing to do the work (or ask for help).

-
You trust the process, can persevere, and understand that writing a book is iterative and evolutionary.

-
Even though you have unlimited ideas for books (and maybe businesses!), you understand the importance of picking and writing one at a time. You can resist “shiny object syndrome” to stay focused.

-
You respond to direct and firm, but supportive, feedback. You are ready to invest in your idea and yourself to commit to this endeavor. Your time is valuable, so let’s not waste it.

Your work as an author doesn’t end when you submit your manuscript for copy edit.
The end of writing is the beginning of another phase – you’ve got to sell it. Your Amazon description, your author day, the talking points for your next book, social media strategy……you don’t have to tackle any of this alone.
As your book sherpa (a continuation of our long-term coaching relationship), I will partner with you so that you have continuity and support through the entire process.
